Back to News Briefs Motouring Australia Report The name of the lobby group formed by the major RV organisations is called MOTOURING AUSTRALIA. ARVO, due to legal reasons is no longer to be used by the group in any way. Motouring Australia is now registered in New South Wales and the Trade Mark has been applied for. FROM THE PRESIDENT I ATTENDED THE MEETING ON November 17th at the CMCA Headquarters and once again it was a most positive meeting. The next meeting will be on the 4th May 2010 Notes from earlier meetings. A lot of discussion was held in relation to the use of showgrounds for RV travelers and it seems that the main problem states are Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia. On 5 June 2009 our President went along with other members of the Motouring Australia Group to a meeting in Brisbane chaired by the CEO of the "The Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies Inc.". The purpose of this meeting was to further lobby Government and industry to establish a base line guidance document for the 128 individual show grounds societies throughout Queensland to allow camping for RV travelers for a period of up to 7 days. If they are successful in getting the Government of Queensland to change the legislation then they are hopeful that the other states in question will follow suit as they have all stated off the record their support. Ministers in all states are very supportive of the "Leave No Trace" scheme. One of the main objectors of course will come from the Caravan Park Owners Association, but we have plans that will maybe help with this. A presentation was given to the meeting by folks from the Green Nomads, but we believe that they have a lot of work to be done before their launch date and at the moment it is purely a Queensland based group and we will come back to it at a later date. National Registration was once again discussed at length and it was agreed the same response that the ATCM & CC and the CMCA got when letters were written to the Federal Government was that the states will not let it go, due to the revenue that they would loose. We will explore the problem of members' license problems when staying in a host state for over 3 months. In regards to the 'Leave No Trace" Scheme it was pleasing to be told that our club has the most members apart from the CMCA to join up with this scheme and during discussions at the Queensland meeting the advantages of being able to use some of these showgrounds would come back to RV units being Self Contained. The next meeting will be held on 17 November 2009.
