Swan Hill Report The Swan Hill Get-Together 15 - 21 April was a great success with 35 members turning up to enjoy the sunny weather and the various activities. Tuesday was a free day with everyone greeting the latest arrivals. Wednesday was a free day, fresh scones provided by Elizabeth for morning tea. A Light and Sound show at the Pioneer Settlement in the evening. On Thursday there was a tour of the Pioneer Village in the morning, lunch at the Riverside Cafe and a boat trip on the Pyap River Boat. There was just enough water in the river to float the boat. A joint BVO BBQ was held in the evening and this was a great chance for everyone to get to know each other. Friday, a free morning with more tea and scones. Some visited an exhibition of the bush artists from Broken Hill. Disc bowls in the afternoon was enjoyed by a group and some visitors to the park. The Club dinner was held at the R.S.L. in the evening. Saturday there was a tour and lunch at a nearby olive and nut farm, followed by lunch. In the afternoon we did a tour of the first settlement taken up in Victoria in 1851 at Tyntynder Homestead. In the evening we watched Doc Martin followed by poetry reading by Steve. Sunday morning stared with a pancake breakfast, then market and or church, and a relaxing afternoon. Monday morning was free followed by a visit to the Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum and saw a video of the base's part in WW2. The day finished with a visit to nearby Best's Winery. Next Victorian Get-Together will be held in Stawell from 25th August to 1st September 2008. |
